An Easy Felt Scarf DIY
In the book “Corduroy", a small child is able to welcome a new toy into his home. The Peaceful Preschool curriculum has several activities to celebrate that book while building skills, and this easy craft is just one of them.

INSTRUCTIONS
We used a felt flat from Lumenaris which is 12 x 24. We cut about a 3-inch strip from the 12” side to create a 12x3 inch “scarf”.
We then gave our preschooler a pair of child-safe scissors to make 1-2” cuts about 1/2” apart in each end of the scarf to create a fringed look. You might want to draw the lines on the ends of the scarf to give your child more guidance.
Once the cuts were made, we let our child gift a favorite toy with the scarf.
This simple craft could also be done with felt squares purchased from a craft store, these shorter scarves would suit a smaller stuffed animal.
If your child’s handwork skills are more advanced, this would be a good opportunity to cast on 5 stitches and let them knit a small scarf.
Working with fibers is not only a great way of providing sensory input, it is also a wonderful way to develop fine motor skills.
