Finding Comfort Through Christmas Stories
The world seems very fragile and uncertain this year, and while we know that God is in control, we are dealing with the uncertainty in the world by starting our Christmas celebrating early.
We've pulled out the favorite Christmas books, started prepping for advent, settled into some games and puzzles (Check out our new Art Memory Game), and are working on our Christmas planning list. Are you planning your Christmas list? Download the free Christmas Planner and check out our Gift Guide for ideas.
We are finding comfort in inspiring stories of farm boys who sacrificially give, soldiers who lay down their arms to make a temporary truce, and a king who braves the cold to help his people.

And we are finding the most comfort of all in the truth that a God who would send his own son to save us, will continue to shepherd his people.
One of the practices that we do to develop our own family traditions is to make a list of the holiday activities that bring joy, and a separate column for those activities that steal joy (this activity is spelled out further in Unearthing Wonder). When we take time to evaluate what activities are life-giving for our family, we can cultivate holidays that build memories that will carry our children through their own difficult seasons.
Settling in with some beautiful storybooks, or a fun seasonal activity is an effective strategy for building happy memories even in an intense season.
