The Quiet Growing Time

“In this time of extraordinary pressure, educational and social, perhaps a mother’s first duty to her children is to secure for them a quiet growing time, a full six years of passive receptive life, the waking part of it spent for the most part out in the fresh air.”

-"Home Education" by Charlotte Mason

This time with our littles is so fleeting and the world urges us to educate them early however Charlotte Mason reminds us that this is a treasured time for them to learn and to grow from the natural world around them!

Time passes so swiftly and we have this limited opportunity with them and if we blink we will miss it. Let's embrace letting them be little and coming alongside of them to encourage them and to play with them.

Ways to help capture this quiet growing time:

  • Nature walks

  • Collecting nature treasures

  • Painting

  • Singing

  • Building

  • Playing dress-up

  • Reading together

  • Tea parties

  • Picnics

  • Building forts

  • Playing the day away

  • Acting out favorite stories
