It makes us feel frazzled which can activate fight or flight, the opposite of a calm learning atmosphere. If we instead, combine science, history, art, and literature, and only separate for grade specific math and language arts, it keeps the atmosphere more cohesive and promotes the discussions and explorations that portray deep learning.
