Our Life is a Weaving

Our life is a weaving.

We come to be as we are knit together by the Creator.

Our families come together piece by piece, thread by thread, generation after generation. Some parts are visibly beautiful as they are being woven in and some parts of our journey are dark and unwanted but nonetheless a part of our journey and a part of our lives.

Our children come along and we want goodness and beauty for them so we try to cultivate that for them within our homes and in our homeschools.

But sometimes the real beauty comes in the dark and the difficult moments. The moments of pain and suffering and daily struggles.

The moments that show mercy and grace and love.

There will come a day when we can more clearly see the finished work and all of the beauty of the good, the bad, the happy, the sad...the redemption of it all coming together.

Until that day we work steadily with a loose grip allowing the weaving to flow freely from our hands investing day by day into our lives and the lives of our children.

The end project will reveal our life's work and that will be more beautiful than we can even fathom.

"My life is but a weaving

Between my God and me.

I cannot choose the colors

He weaveth steadily.

Oft’ times He weaveth sorrow;

And I in foolish pride

Forget He sees the upper

And I the underside.

Not ’til the loom is silent

And the shuttles cease to fly

Will God unroll the canvas

And reveal the reason why.

The dark threads are as needful

In the weaver’s skillful hand

As the threads of gold and silver

In the pattern He has planned

He knows, He loves, He cares;

Nothing this truth can dim.

He gives the very best to those

Who leave the choice to Him."
